SHOPBOP IN JAPAN! ❤

Hi Everyone!! Today's post is going to be in Japanese for my Japanese followers!

Hi みんな!今日はSHOPBOPの紹介をしようと思ってるの。SHOPBOPとはオンラインのショッピングサイトで、Amazonとも提携してるの。ちょうど日本語版もローンチしたんだ。

I want to introduce you to SHOPBOP! It's an online fashion shopping site which is now owned by AMAZON that just launched in Japanese in Japan!

First of all, I don't shop online much because I always worry about the sizing, but SHOPBOP has a very detailed 'description' section for SIZING when you click on the item you're interested in.

I❤THIS BRAND Dra Clothing and so happy to find it on SHOPBOP! I can shop it along with so many other brands I love!!

こうやってみてると欲しいものがどんどん増えていっちゃって、、でもすぐに決められないから この❤をクリックすると自分のウィッシュリストに入れられるんだ。このウィッシュリストには私の"迷ってる"リストが沢山入ってるの。

There were so many things that I liked but I couldn't decide right away so I made a ❤on them to add to my wishlist.
そうそして、SHOPBOPには沢山のLOOKBOOKセクションがあって、デイリーで使えるアウトフィットのインスピレーションも見れちゃう!

SHOPBOP also has a LOOKBOOK section to give you inspiration for daily outfits too!!

SO COOLでしょ?
そしてついに私が決めてGETしたものはブラックボンバージャケット!My Mini Zooeyのジャケットととってもマッチしてるでしょ。
Anyhow, so I ended up buying a Black Alpha Bomber Jacket to match my mini Zooey's black bomber.

Me: Bomber: SHOPBOP // Dress: BDG // Sandals: TEVA x OPENING CEREMONY
ZOOEY: Bomber: Kira Kids // T: Old Navy Kids // Sneakers: AKID

もちろんミニサイズの方が可愛いけどね!Hehe
Of course the mini size looks much cuter on right? HEHE

Anyhow, I really recommend shopping on this site because they carry all types of brands (many high-end brands too!) and it ships really quickly from the US in 2-4 days!! FREE SHIPPING!! But please be aware of the IMPORT TAX!!!

It's so easy to create your account! and btw I heard there will be a Something super cool happening IN EARLY OCTOBER and Account Holders will get discount code and access one day before!!! So hurry up and go open a SHOPBOP account! hehe

TOKYO, HOW I MISS THEE..

Hubby sent me this photo above..

*sigh* some of the invitations of events and exhibitions that I'm missing out on this month and this was only half..hubby had already thrown away the ones that took place at the end of 2012.  I miss you TOKYO.  I'm kind of glad that I kept baby out of the snowstorm and it's already looking like spring in LA BUT..I MISS my life in Japan..My Husband..my independence.  I realize it's been um..a while since I updated. I seriously have been hibernating with baby indoors..and trying to keep her healthy.  I will officially be returning to Tokyo at the end of February as I was invited to attend the MAGIC MARKET WEEK aka The Magic Trade Show in Las Vegas.  Anyone coming into town for that?  I am looking forward to one huge party that week... and can't wait to share it with you. Until then, I'm training baby how to sleep through the night so that it will be easier for my parents to take care of her when i'm gone on this 'business trip' ! Motherhood.. It ain't easy.

TOKYO...I'M COMING HOME♥

After a little over 6 months, I'm finally going home to Tokyo! For those of you who didn't already know, I came back to the states to give birth to my baby, this little angel in the photo above, ZOOEY. I gave birth to her on March 25th so she is a little over 3 months old now.  They grow SOO FAST! I've been learning lots about motherhood from my mom here and am looking forward to doing it all as a family with my hubby when I return to Tokyo this week.  My lifestyle will be changing a lot..unfortunately, I will not be attending the clubs as much as I used to so I won't be able to do as many party reports as before (so sorry!), but many things will come into place once I get back into the swing of things.  From now, 'Just another Typical Night in Tokyo' might not be the type of party reports it used to be tho I will probably still be up all night .. but don't worry, I won't be TMI about diaper changes or breastfeeding details here hehe  I can't wait to see everyone when I get back home and introduce Z.until then..here's some P diddy..

WELCOME TO THE WORLD BABY ZOOEY ♥

Dear Readers,

I'm extremely sorry for a super duper lack of updates! I went into labor a week earlier than my due date and gave birth to beautiful Baby Zooey on 3.25.2012 at a quarter after midnight.  I am currently adjusting to motherhood and it's been quite a ride and I'm loving it!  Say Hello to baby Zooey. ♥

She was born 5 lbs 11 oz.

photos by Jeska

Everyone has a different experience when giving birth...thru our entire 9 months of pregnancy, we have so many questions..there is so much information out there that we are often overwhelmed and don't know what we should and shouldn't do.  Let me just say that www.babycenter.com is one of the best websites to join once you know you are pregnant! It's very very VERY helpful!

I spent a good 30 weeks of my pregnancy in TOKYO..where the food and water were rumored to be contaminated with radiation.. This was SUPER stressful... I was eating out often and asking where everything was from.  I have never been so picky but for once I had to think about someone other than myself... my baby.. So the minute I was asked to come back to California by my mom to have my baby, I went right away...

A lot of things changed the minute I came back here.. My relationship with my new OB was different.  I felt that he was available all hours and I could ask him ANYTHING.  I often consulted him about things that 'my friends' told me and he always took the time to explain why I should stop listening to everyone else. I just had to trust him and I did.  Of course I trusted my OB in Japan too, but there was always a part of me that was hesitant to ask things... So basically, what I learned is that although it is great to be knowledgeable, sometimes it's better NOT to listen to what other people say.. especially fearing experiences of friends of friends etc...

Everyone will have a different experience..  One BIG thing I had to think about was whether or not 'to use an EPIDERAL'. OMG- the EPIDERAL saved my life......Towards the end of my pregnancy I kept complaining that I wouldn't know when my contractions would come...but oh boy, did it hit me like someone stabbing my lower back with a huge knife while some else was kicking my tummy upwards.  YES IT DOES FEEL LIKE MENSTRUAL CRAMPS x 100000!  The first time I felt them, they were manageable, but as they got stronger and the intervals got closer together, I kept thinking...HOW THE HELL DO WOMEN DO THIS WITHOUT EPIDERAL!??

I had learned some basic anatomical things in birth class and the moment I felt my contractions getting really close, my cousin took me to the hospital..but I turned out to only be 1 cm dilated.  For people who don't know, you need to be 10 cm to start pushing.  I had a long way to go.  I actually ended up going home after the first night and went back to the hospital the next morning.  My parents thought I was crazy...but I actually thought I was going to be able to sleep when I got home .. stupid me. I was trying so hard to endure the contractions and could NOT sleep at all..so, the next morning I went back to the hospital at 8am...by now the contractions were making me CRY..it was hurting SO MUCH!!! But I was still only 2cm..WTF!!!! I was contracting for 8 hours and I was only 2 cm!?!?! well, for some reason my blood pressure was really high so i was offered an Epideral at this time....I took it.  It was smooth sailing after this and I just had to wait til I was more and more dilated.  They had to administer Pitocin to make my contractions stronger--contractions which I did NOT feel anymore..It was a miracle. so fast forward...

Hours later...I was finally 7cm..and my water broke (which I didn't feel). It was getting close to that time. I was getting nervous..Oh my..is baby going to come out now? I was getting ready to PUSH..but.. because my epideral was STILL on..I didn't understand what it meant to PUSH!!!!! I know this sounds dumb but I think that because I couldn't feel anything but pressure 'down there'...I couldn't PUSH properly because I couldn't 'feel' that feeling...It was super frustrating!! Everyone kept telling me, PUSH like you have to POO, harder!! but I just didn't know if I was doing it right!!! So about.. 30 minutes later or less (I lost track)...at my FINAL PUSH..I felt the dr. pull baby out..and then I heard her cry...It was the weirdest feeling ever!!!!!! but SO AMAZING!!!!! I DID IT!!! I GAVE BIRTH AND IT WASN'T AS BAD AS EVERYONE SAID IT WOULD BE!!!! I had already felt like..oh wow, I can totally do this again!!!... lol

SO that was my experience. I immediately got to do 'skin to skin' with my baby...which was another amazing thing to experience.  I recommend that anyone giving birth do this with their baby, where the nurse puts the baby on your chest and you spend an hour sharing skin to skin, feeling each other's heartbeats...I'm so grateful that baby was totally healthy and fine.  I breastfed right away..just like how the breastfeeding class taught me.

It's been a few weeks now..and I'm getting better at this motherhood thing.  I love my baby girl sooo much and never thought that I could love anything this much!!! I understand now why women need 'time' after birth...maternity leave is definately important.. I didn't think I would need this much time off but it's giving me a lot of time to bond with my baby and learn the ropes.

I will be returning to Tokyo in a few months with baby...I can't wait to see how life will be with her there. Tho I'm still skeptical about the environment / food / water etc.. there.. I need to go back. I need to feel it out for another year and see how our life would be.  Tho I will definately cool down with the partying (as baby can't be in that environment)... I'm hoping to explore new mommy + baby events.. Here is me taking a step UP!  Say hello to maisassyMAMA! HEHE

AT 37.5 WEEKS

HELLO EVERYONE! SO..I'm about 37.5 weeks pregnant now... and this is how big my belly is..HEHE I guess if I wore a tighter shirt you can see more clearly how big I am at the moment..but that's not really my style right? My tummy is about 107 cm in diameter (measured today..) and baby weights about 6 lbs 2 oz already!! so crazy right!?!? My friend & sister hosted a baby shower for me last weekend and you can see the photos from that day here: MAI BABY SHOWER I can't believe the day is coming soon...the day where I will enter motherhood FOR REALS.. I'm so excited!!!!!!  I've been updating my little things about my maternity days on my ULTRABLOGGERS BLOG but am still trying to keep this blog alive..not partying but..sharing little things here and there. I know I am missing out on SO MUCH in TOKYO..I had to cancel so many bookings & postponed some projects before I left to come back to California..Seems like the party season is kicking back up again...but I will be back soon..I hope that bringing baby along won't be too much of a buzz kill. hehe Unless HUBBY will agree to be MR. MOM on those days right?  Gosh I can't wait to meet my baby and can't wait to bring her back to TOKYO and have her meet all of you tooooo!!

REMEMBERING 3.11.11

I feel bad for not posting this on the 1 year anniversary of the horrible disaster that happened last year...I will never forget about what happened and what I was doing at that exact moment when the earthquake hit...  I've been trying to find the right words...figuring out what I should write that would make things fine...I can't believe that a year has passed...A lot of things happened last year...I got married and then I became pregnant..this changed everything for me.  When it was just about me & my husband..staying in Tokyo was not a big deal for us, healthwise..but the minute I became pregnant..my feelings completely changed...I suddenly became really anxious and stressed about the radiation levels in the food, the water, and the environment...I started to become really cautious about the food and was barely eating...I didn't know what news was accurate and what wasn't...But I planned to give birth in TOKYO anyway...

Then suddenly at the beginning of January 2012..when I was more than halfway thru my pregnancy..my mother decided that she wanted me to come back to the states and have my baby.  She said it was better for me because she could help me thru the first few months... OMG- Was this possible!?!? Why didn't my parents decide this sooner???  I will admit, I started to feel very alone and lost in Tokyo... was I eating correctly?  Is my baby going to be healthy??  How are these radiation levels going to affect my baby??  I had so many questions but had no idea where to go for answers.  When I asked the opinion of the doctor that was going to give my birth at SANNO HOSPITAL..she was really rude and said 'if I am worried about the food I should go back to my country...'... I was so shocked...so when this offer came.. I agreed right away and started preparing to go back..and in a few weeks..I was on the plane back to OC.  I had to cancel all of my projects, work & left my husband back in Tokyo.  Leaving him there was the hardest thing for me...

I have been back in california for almost 2 months now and I haven't felt so much relief.  My mother & family have been taking very good care of me and it's so nice to not be stressed about food.  I know that I'm lucky to have a choice to return to a safe place...and not everyone in Japan has this option...But I will not give up on you Tokyo.  I plan to return to Tokyo with my baby after she is born... and I'm praying by then that things will be better with the environment.

There was this amazing BBC documentary about the Children of the Tsunami but it's no longer on Youtube (>.<) I really wish that everyone could watch it...to hear from the children about what happened..and how they felt...  Since being away from Tokyo, I haven't been keeping up with what has been happening in Japan..I feel guilty...But like I said, I plan to go back... with baby... Please hang in there Tokyo... and friends..I will see you all very soon!!!!!

The photo above was done by TRIP..a project called PAINT FOR JAPAN that she started after the earthquake on 3.11. 2011.. I think she is still doing it and anyone can join if you send her your photo.

頑張って日本!!!!!

MATERNITY LEAVE ♥

So it's official, I'm on maternity leave..I'm back in LA & Orange County now, resting, getting spoiled by family, eating well, and watching too much reality TV.  I'm still super exhausted from moving last week and getting things ready for this short vacation but I think by next week I will have the energy to go out and about to meet friends and go shopping.  Tonight my aunt came over and gave me this baby gift...she crochetted this cute hat, booties and blanket. She knows me so well..anything that looks like strawberries is exactly ME!  Did I mention that I'm having a GIRL?  I'm so excited!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! 2011-2012 HOLIDAY FOOD POST

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
I went to HIROSHIMA to visit my in-laws for New Years..In Japan, it's a tradition to spend time with your family for this holiday..I learned this when I first moved to Japan.. I thought people partied hard for the countdown, (which some do)..but a majority of them go back to their hometown. I'm so happy that I have family to go visit for the holidays now!! And, let me not forget about the delicious food that they always prepare for us!!! yummmmmmmmy! ok so...after our arrival, the dinner on our first night..

everyone ate this..
I had salad (below)

nice american dinner? heheh

NO ALCOHOL!

Kahluaちゃん

after dinner, I took a nap...then..woke up before the countdown to eat SOBA
SOBA is traditionally eaten for NYE because it symbolizes a LONG LIFE..
you can read more about Soba & it's traditions here: SOBA x NEW YEARS

his

mine

Then we stayed up to watch KOHAKU...
where the GIRL'S TEAM WON! ♥

then the next morning...
we had more SOBA & my aunt-in-law prepared OSECHI

each piece of this japanese dish has a symbolic meaning

We went to temple..

We had Nabe for dinner..YUMMMMMMM

gyoza..

I forgot what this was called but it was Taro inside. so yummy!

We also had Yakiniku one night but I was too exhausted to take photos.....Anyhow all I have to say is that I am so grateful to have in-laws that cook such delicious meals and fed me soo well during the holidays!! Living in Tokyo, I don't eat very well so it was great for the health of the baby in my belly which probably gained so much weight in the past few days! I am back in Tokyo now, and ready to start 2012 fresh.  There will be a lot of changes this year, especially with baby coming.  Work will be changing a bit, as well as my blog.  I haven't decided yet what I will do next but I hope that you will continue to keep reading...I apologize again that I will not be attending as many clubs as I did before (because of the circumstances) but hope to substitute those posts with more interesting content.  I will however continue to attend fashion events, shop openings etc until I can't walk anymore so we have a few more months left for that. HEHE I might be missing out on this year's A/W Fashion Week tho because I might go into labor then. WOW. Time really flies.

Have any of you thought of a new year's resolution?  I don't see the point, as we always tend to forget about it after a few weeks.  I say just live life the best you can, live it to the fullest, but don't try toooooo hard..let things come to you naturally.. don't step on others... don't use others.. and don't hesitate to help others.. be positive .. smile... if you've been burned before, don't let it happen again... cut the people out of your life that drain you (the users) be strong and stand up for yourself... appreciate your friends and family.. appreciate the people who HELPED YOU get to where you are & acknowledge them... communication is key.. so when things feel funny, talk them out.. These are the things that helped me get thru the year and have contributed to my success!

I want to say thank you to all my readers! Without you, I wouldn't be where I am today!! Thank you soo much and Happy Happy Happy New Year!!!
