VISVIM: STUDY & PRACTICE EXHIBITION RECEPTION PARTY REPORT 10.28.2011 @ GYRE

The top Mocassin's by VISVIM, were inspired by these indian mocassins below it.

so amazing...

as you can see, the bottom pair were inspired by the top pair.

The top pair were inspired by the bottom pair from the EDO period. SO SO SOOO COOL!

can you tell which are the new and which were the inspiration!?

These were from the 1940's..and don't see you them in a few shops in Tokyo NOW?

so so sooo amazing..

OLD fireman uniforms!!! from the 1800's!

VISVIM is by far one of the most respected brands in Japan and this exhibition really blew me away. Everyone will be able to see this exhibition from TOMORROW October 29th until November 26th. You can check about the info here: VISVIM: study & practice exhibition It was really amazing to understand where designer Hiroki Nakamura got his inspiration from. It makes me respect those waaay before our time so much more, thinking about how talented they were to be the FIRST to design and hand-make such items..only for us to RE-MAKE them to fit our present time. History really does repeat itself.

『PORTLAND NIGHT -What's pushing up Portland , What's pushing up Tokyo.-』

今、全米で最もクリエイティブな都市の一つ言われるアメリカのオレゴン州、ポートランド。インディペンデント魂溢れる、人、街。それは例えば、自転車、食、アートなどを見てみても、他の都市に例を見ない唯一無二の都市となっています。対して、東京も様々な趣味嗜好が混沌とスピード感をもって混じり合う中で、独自のカルチャーを築きあげてきました。

今回のラストサーズデーは、『What's pushing up Portland , What's pushing up Tokyo.』と題し、この２都市を何が突き動かしているのか、を探りたいと思います。

当日は、「ポートランドと東京」トークセッション。
音楽は、ポートランドから The Great Mundane が来日してライブを。
さらに、東京からは DJ Mai と DJ TRIP が盛り上げ、
ライブペイントはポートランドにて過去に展示もしている BAKIBAKI と Kaz が会場を彩ります。
今回、サポートをしてくれている DELTA航空と Travel Portland から

awww I wish I was able to take some more photos but it was a busy night running into people that I hadn't seen in sooooooooo LONG and catching up!!!! and the next thing I knew it was closing time!!!!!
