TOM FORD CAT EYE GLASSES

 This just in..

 I heart TOM FORD
Aren't these like SUPER DUPER cute.

I tried these on back in November at the Visionize Eyewear Exhibition.  Anyone who knows me, know that my 'glasses' not only define my character but are my special trademark!! I wouldn't be me without glasses..thick framed ones that stand out to say the least..When I saw these, I knew I had to have them! Thank you TOM FORD! hehe It will be hard to put away my DITA EYEWEAR glasses so I'll be alternating between these. hehe

WELCOME TO THE WORLD BABY ZOOEY ♥

Dear Readers,

I'm extremely sorry for a super duper lack of updates! I went into labor a week earlier than my due date and gave birth to beautiful Baby Zooey on 3.25.2012 at a quarter after midnight.  I am currently adjusting to motherhood and it's been quite a ride and I'm loving it!  Say Hello to baby Zooey. ♥

She was born 5 lbs 11 oz.

photos by Jeska

Everyone has a different experience when giving birth...thru our entire 9 months of pregnancy, we have so many questions..there is so much information out there that we are often overwhelmed and don't know what we should and shouldn't do.  Let me just say that www.babycenter.com is one of the best websites to join once you know you are pregnant! It's very very VERY helpful!

I spent a good 30 weeks of my pregnancy in TOKYO..where the food and water were rumored to be contaminated with radiation.. This was SUPER stressful... I was eating out often and asking where everything was from.  I have never been so picky but for once I had to think about someone other than myself... my baby.. So the minute I was asked to come back to California by my mom to have my baby, I went right away...

A lot of things changed the minute I came back here.. My relationship with my new OB was different.  I felt that he was available all hours and I could ask him ANYTHING.  I often consulted him about things that 'my friends' told me and he always took the time to explain why I should stop listening to everyone else. I just had to trust him and I did.  Of course I trusted my OB in Japan too, but there was always a part of me that was hesitant to ask things... So basically, what I learned is that although it is great to be knowledgeable, sometimes it's better NOT to listen to what other people say.. especially fearing experiences of friends of friends etc...

Everyone will have a different experience..  One BIG thing I had to think about was whether or not 'to use an EPIDERAL'. OMG- the EPIDERAL saved my life......Towards the end of my pregnancy I kept complaining that I wouldn't know when my contractions would come...but oh boy, did it hit me like someone stabbing my lower back with a huge knife while some else was kicking my tummy upwards.  YES IT DOES FEEL LIKE MENSTRUAL CRAMPS x 100000!  The first time I felt them, they were manageable, but as they got stronger and the intervals got closer together, I kept thinking...HOW THE HELL DO WOMEN DO THIS WITHOUT EPIDERAL!??

I had learned some basic anatomical things in birth class and the moment I felt my contractions getting really close, my cousin took me to the hospital..but I turned out to only be 1 cm dilated.  For people who don't know, you need to be 10 cm to start pushing.  I had a long way to go.  I actually ended up going home after the first night and went back to the hospital the next morning.  My parents thought I was crazy...but I actually thought I was going to be able to sleep when I got home .. stupid me. I was trying so hard to endure the contractions and could NOT sleep at all..so, the next morning I went back to the hospital at 8am...by now the contractions were making me CRY..it was hurting SO MUCH!!! But I was still only 2cm..WTF!!!! I was contracting for 8 hours and I was only 2 cm!?!?! well, for some reason my blood pressure was really high so i was offered an Epideral at this time....I took it.  It was smooth sailing after this and I just had to wait til I was more and more dilated.  They had to administer Pitocin to make my contractions stronger--contractions which I did NOT feel anymore..It was a miracle. so fast forward...

Hours later...I was finally 7cm..and my water broke (which I didn't feel). It was getting close to that time. I was getting nervous..Oh my..is baby going to come out now? I was getting ready to PUSH..but.. because my epideral was STILL on..I didn't understand what it meant to PUSH!!!!! I know this sounds dumb but I think that because I couldn't feel anything but pressure 'down there'...I couldn't PUSH properly because I couldn't 'feel' that feeling...It was super frustrating!! Everyone kept telling me, PUSH like you have to POO, harder!! but I just didn't know if I was doing it right!!! So about.. 30 minutes later or less (I lost track)...at my FINAL PUSH..I felt the dr. pull baby out..and then I heard her cry...It was the weirdest feeling ever!!!!!! but SO AMAZING!!!!! I DID IT!!! I GAVE BIRTH AND IT WASN'T AS BAD AS EVERYONE SAID IT WOULD BE!!!! I had already felt like..oh wow, I can totally do this again!!!... lol

SO that was my experience. I immediately got to do 'skin to skin' with my baby...which was another amazing thing to experience.  I recommend that anyone giving birth do this with their baby, where the nurse puts the baby on your chest and you spend an hour sharing skin to skin, feeling each other's heartbeats...I'm so grateful that baby was totally healthy and fine.  I breastfed right away..just like how the breastfeeding class taught me.

It's been a few weeks now..and I'm getting better at this motherhood thing.  I love my baby girl sooo much and never thought that I could love anything this much!!! I understand now why women need 'time' after birth...maternity leave is definately important.. I didn't think I would need this much time off but it's giving me a lot of time to bond with my baby and learn the ropes.

I will be returning to Tokyo in a few months with baby...I can't wait to see how life will be with her there. Tho I'm still skeptical about the environment / food / water etc.. there.. I need to go back. I need to feel it out for another year and see how our life would be.  Tho I will definately cool down with the partying (as baby can't be in that environment)... I'm hoping to explore new mommy + baby events.. Here is me taking a step UP!  Say hello to maisassyMAMA! HEHE

AT 37.5 WEEKS

HELLO EVERYONE! SO..I'm about 37.5 weeks pregnant now... and this is how big my belly is..HEHE I guess if I wore a tighter shirt you can see more clearly how big I am at the moment..but that's not really my style right? My tummy is about 107 cm in diameter (measured today..) and baby weights about 6 lbs 2 oz already!! so crazy right!?!? My friend & sister hosted a baby shower for me last weekend and you can see the photos from that day here: MAI BABY SHOWER I can't believe the day is coming soon...the day where I will enter motherhood FOR REALS.. I'm so excited!!!!!!  I've been updating my little things about my maternity days on my ULTRABLOGGERS BLOG but am still trying to keep this blog alive..not partying but..sharing little things here and there. I know I am missing out on SO MUCH in TOKYO..I had to cancel so many bookings & postponed some projects before I left to come back to California..Seems like the party season is kicking back up again...but I will be back soon..I hope that bringing baby along won't be too much of a buzz kill. hehe Unless HUBBY will agree to be MR. MOM on those days right?  Gosh I can't wait to meet my baby and can't wait to bring her back to TOKYO and have her meet all of you tooooo!!

REMEMBERING 3.11.11

I feel bad for not posting this on the 1 year anniversary of the horrible disaster that happened last year...I will never forget about what happened and what I was doing at that exact moment when the earthquake hit...  I've been trying to find the right words...figuring out what I should write that would make things fine...I can't believe that a year has passed...A lot of things happened last year...I got married and then I became pregnant..this changed everything for me.  When it was just about me & my husband..staying in Tokyo was not a big deal for us, healthwise..but the minute I became pregnant..my feelings completely changed...I suddenly became really anxious and stressed about the radiation levels in the food, the water, and the environment...I started to become really cautious about the food and was barely eating...I didn't know what news was accurate and what wasn't...But I planned to give birth in TOKYO anyway...

Then suddenly at the beginning of January 2012..when I was more than halfway thru my pregnancy..my mother decided that she wanted me to come back to the states and have my baby.  She said it was better for me because she could help me thru the first few months... OMG- Was this possible!?!? Why didn't my parents decide this sooner???  I will admit, I started to feel very alone and lost in Tokyo... was I eating correctly?  Is my baby going to be healthy??  How are these radiation levels going to affect my baby??  I had so many questions but had no idea where to go for answers.  When I asked the opinion of the doctor that was going to give my birth at SANNO HOSPITAL..she was really rude and said 'if I am worried about the food I should go back to my country...'... I was so shocked...so when this offer came.. I agreed right away and started preparing to go back..and in a few weeks..I was on the plane back to OC.  I had to cancel all of my projects, work & left my husband back in Tokyo.  Leaving him there was the hardest thing for me...

I have been back in california for almost 2 months now and I haven't felt so much relief.  My mother & family have been taking very good care of me and it's so nice to not be stressed about food.  I know that I'm lucky to have a choice to return to a safe place...and not everyone in Japan has this option...But I will not give up on you Tokyo.  I plan to return to Tokyo with my baby after she is born... and I'm praying by then that things will be better with the environment.

There was this amazing BBC documentary about the Children of the Tsunami but it's no longer on Youtube (>.<) I really wish that everyone could watch it...to hear from the children about what happened..and how they felt...  Since being away from Tokyo, I haven't been keeping up with what has been happening in Japan..I feel guilty...But like I said, I plan to go back... with baby... Please hang in there Tokyo... and friends..I will see you all very soon!!!!!

The photo above was done by TRIP..a project called PAINT FOR JAPAN that she started after the earthquake on 3.11. 2011.. I think she is still doing it and anyone can join if you send her your photo.

頑張って日本!!!!!

「SUPER A|X HOPE」by LESLIE KEE - TOHOKU CHARITY PHOTOBOOK ON SALE NOW!

Leslie Kee has done it again, making an amazing photobook with young stars (which I have not seen yet, but can imagine hehe).  This time he has collaborated with A|X to make a limited 1000 copies of a 50 page photobook on sale at OMOTESANDO HILLS from March 9th - March 13th.  With a T-shirt ¥8000 (incl. tax), Photobook only ¥6000 (incl. tax).  All the proceeds will go to a community center that A|X has made in Kesenuma-shi, Miyagi Prefecture.  They aim to build a futsal pitch, playing field, library and many other fun places for the kids in Tohoku to have a place to hang out and feel normal again.

Last night was the opening party of the launch of this photobook in Tokyo..and I'm so sad that I missed it. I even got a personal invite from Leslie but unfortunately, I am still on maternity leave in LA.  Currently at 36.7 weeks pregnant, baby is about to POP OUT!!!

It's almost 1 year since the tsunami hit...I hope you have not forgotten about those who suffered from this disaster.  A lot of changes have occurred in Tokyo and I never wanted to leave but because of my pregnancy, my parents insisted that I come back, at least to give birth.  I will return to Tokyo soon, with baby and hopefully things will pick back up where I left it!!

日本頑張って!!!
